The Institute is a non-profit organization that supports new company creation based on publicly-funded research. Leveraging Florida's $2B research base, the Institute works collaboratively with technology licensing officers across the state to create new companies and jobs in industries that are driving the global economy.

The Institute’s proven, two-pronged approach includes both company building and company funding programs, ensuring that the most promising startups receive the support and capital they need in order to grow. With funding from the State of Florida through the Department of Economic Opportunity, and through the generosity of mentors, advisors and donors, the Institute connects the dots between research, discovery and commercialization to build companies that are solving some of today’s toughest challenges. The Florida Virtual Entrepreneur Center is a free web portal designed to connect entrepreneurs with business support organizations, programs and service providers who can support their new or growing business.


Florida BioDatabase

Florida BioDatabase (FBD) is an exciting, searchable resource with the latest information on Florida's bioscience industry plus unique profiles of biotechnology and biomedical device companies. The location of all FBD companies is also shown on a distribution map. FBD is updated several times a year drawing on publicly available information. The University of Florida's Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator publishes this free, web-based resource in support of the bioscience industry statewide.
